CSW & Women in Geospatial: Connecting & Building Community

When

1 to 2:30 p.m., Nov. 18, 2020

Geospatial technology is more than making maps!

Geospatial technologies are becoming ubiquitous across disciplines and industries. From tracking disease and mapping election results to location analytics for real estate investmentusing drones to survey habitat, and building software for apps like Uber or Apple Maps, geospatial data & tools are all around us. It is data sciencejournalismpolicy or simply making a map using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Geospatial data and tools drive most every aspect of our lives and the way we interact with each other and the world around us.

Join us to learn how GIS skills might be applicable in your field of study and hear more from the panelists, Laura Bookman, Martha Gomez-Sapiens, Victoria Sisk and Stephanie Springer. This is your chance to discover what is available on campus to learn about geospatial technology and GIS, and to meet people on campus who are already using or teaching it.

Open to anyone on campus who uses or teaches GIS or is just curious!

We welcome individuals of all backgrounds and genders to share their experience and enthusiasm for geospatial technology and GIS. You'll help lay the foundation for a strong interdisciplinary community. Enjoy networking and meeting others on campus across all colleges and departments who are using it. Undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to attend and learn how their field of study can use GIS.
