Biography:

Laura is a PhD student in Literature at the University of Arizona, with a Graduate Certificate in Womens Studies. Her master's thesis focused on the trope of the "evil woman" in three Margaret Atwood novels (Lady Oracle, Cat's Eye, and The Robber Bride), and examined gendered power dynamics between women. Her interests include contemporary constructions of gender and sexuality, feminist and gender theories, 20th century literature and film, and women writers. She has served as Humanities Representative to the Graduate & Professional Student Council (GPSC) and as Co-chair of the English Graduate Union (EGU). She is currently working on her dissertation, which interrogates the politics that inform the contemporary genre of Chick Lit.
